My two year old is in the process of learning his letters and I am looking for many different ways to help him do so. This cute and simple alphabet sun kept him occupied and engaged in learning his letters all afternoon.
It’s simple and easy to create, not to mention super cute and fun! You can make this for your little one by yourself or have them help with the painting process!
Let’s get started by gathering your supplies!
Alphabet Sunshine Supplies
- 26 Clothespins
- Sharpie or heavy duty black pen
- Yellow paint
- Pink paint
- Paper plate
- Paintbrush
Step One:
Grab your paintbrush and yellow paint. Start by painting your clothespins and paper plate all yellow. If you want to simplify the process you could use an already yellow paper plate. I just used what I had on hand, which was a white plate, so I chose to paint it myself.
When it came to painting the clothespins, I just painted the tops and didn’t worry about painting the backs. I did end up doing two coats.
Step Two:
Using your Sharpie, add your eyes and mouth. Then add two rosie pink cheeks with your paintbrush, giving your sun its face.
Step Three:
Add all your letters (A-Z) individually to the bottom part of the clothespin using your Sharpie.
Step Four:
Line up all 26 lettered clothespins around your paper plate. When they are all aligned, write the same letter underneath your clothespin onto the paper plate.
Step 5:
Give your little ones the clothespins and watch them have fun matching up all the letters again and again!
Conclusion:
This is a great hands on activity for any aged child that is learning their letters of the alphabet.
Please be sure to keep a supervised eye on your child around the clothespins. Make sure they do not pinch themselves or put into their mouth.
I hope you and your child enjoy this activity as much as my son and I did!
Have fun creating!
